Vietnam’s tuna exports in the last months of 2021
MEKSEA.COM – Vietnam’s tuna exports in the last months of 2021 continue to grow strongly by over 50% over the same period in 2020. It is estimated that Vietnam’s tuna exports in 2021 will reach about 757 million USD.
Thanks to the flexible and effective anti-epidemic as soon as Vietnam’s anti-covid policies come into effect, seafood production, including tuna processing production, has recovered strongly at this time. By the end of 2021, demand from all markets had increased, and import prices also had tended to increase.

According to businesses, after the Covid-19 vaccine campaign, major importing countries such as the US, EU, countries in the CPTPP bloc and so on soon opened their doors, consumption demand increased significantly in the HORECA service.
Now, the US is still the largest import market of Vietnamese tuna. Vietnam’s tuna exports to this market continue to grow at a high rate. The demand for tuna by US consumers is gradually recovering depending on the foodservice industry of this country.
As for tuna exports to the EU, after a continuous decline in the past 4 months due to reduced demand from the HORECA (Hotel/Restaurant/Café) service, high transportation costs have inhibited exports to this market block, tuna exports to the EU market. This market has grown by 52% in November 2021.
Besides the US and EU, exports to some other markets such as Mexico, Chile, Israel, the Philippines and so on are significantly increasing. There are three-digit growth markets such as Mexico, up 143%, or Israel, up 201%. The rapid growth in these markets is the motivation to accelerate the increase of Vietnam’s tuna exports in recent months at end of 2021.
