Vietnam’s tuna exports to Netherlands increased by 81%
MEKSEA.COM – In the first 4 months of 2022, the Netherlands was the 2nd largest tuna import market in the EU and ranked 7th out of Vietnam’s tuna import markets, with a turnover of more than 8.5 million USD, up 81% over the same period in 2021.
In the EU market, the Netherlands has had good growth continuously since the beginning of this year. Since the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EU (EVFTA) took effect, bringing many tax incentives as well as good opportunities and advantages for export Vietnamese businesses. In fact, from August 2020 to now, many Vietnamese enterprises have made good use of this C/O to enjoy preferential tax treatment for tuna imports into the Netherlands.
Currently, the Netherlands imports a lot of frozen tuna meat/loin with code HS0304 and canned tuna with code HS16 from Vietnam.
In 2021, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic causing the price of raw tuna to increase, the increase in sea transport costs has made tuna exports to this market unstable. Vietnam’s tuna exports to this market only reached 15 million USD, down 10% compared to 2020. But entering 2022, when preferential quotas reopened, European countries will reopen. tuna exports to the Netherlands have started to prosper.
Vietnam is currently the 5th largest source of tuna outside the bloc to this market following the Philippines, Mauritius, Ecuador, and Seychelles. Vietnam’s tuna products currently account for about 7% of the total value of Dutch tuna imports in the first two months of 2022.
