Pangasius exports are reviving in many major markets
Top 1. America
By the end of February 2022, the total value of pangasius exports to the US reached US$94.57 million, up 119.7% over the same period last year. In which, in February 2022, the export value reached nearly 42 million USD, up 167%. By the end of February, the US was the No. 1 pangasius export market of Vietnamese enterprises. It is forecast that the recovery and strong demand of the US market will continue in the first half of this year.
After the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the preliminary results of the 17th review and the latest is the final result of POR17 anti-dumping tax on frozen pangasius fillets imported from Vietnam, businesses Vietnamese pangasius enjoys a 0% tax rate to the US market, and it is forecasted that the export value of pangasius to this market in the coming time will continue to grow strongly.

Top 2. China – Hong Kong
In the first two months of 2022, the total value of pangasius exports to China – Hong Kong reached US$85.8 million, up 239.6% over the same period in 2021, accounting for 22.3%. With this result, China – Hong Kong is ranked as the second-largest pangasius export market (after the US). In the first two months of this year, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to this market faced many difficulties due to China’s strict control policy on imported frozen food. Up to now, exporting pangasius to the Chinese market has also faced many difficulties. Notably, during this period, the value of pangasius exports to Hong Kong increased by over 111% over the same period last year. This is a positive sign after nearly 2 years, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to Hong Kong are not stable.
Top 3. CPTPP
Pangasius exports to the CPTPP market in the first two months of this year reached US$52.5 million, up 51.4% over the same period last year. In which, the export value to Mexico reached 18.3 million USD, up 23.3%; to Canada reached 9.6 million USD, up 81.5%; to Australia reached 6.8 million USD, up 19%; to Malaysia reached 5.6 million USD, an increase of nearly 165%. If the covid situation in the world is well controlled and the economy returns to normal, it is forecasted that for at least the next two quarters, pangasius exports to the CPTPP will have positive double-digit growth.

After at least 2 consecutive years, pangasius exports to the EU decreased, the number of Vietnamese enterprises withdrawing from this market also increased. Before the Covid-19 epidemic reached the heart of Europe, pangasius exports to this market sector revealed many unattractive points when export growth fell to negative levels for many consecutive months. But starting in 2022, there is hope again in this market.
In the first two months of this year, pangasius export value to the EU reached nearly $28 million, up nearly 76% over the same period last year. In which, the export value to the Netherlands reached nearly 10 million USD, up 78.3%; Germany reached 3.4 million USD, up 98%; Belgium reached 2.8 million USD, up 64.3%; Spain reached 2.7 million USD, up 53%.
In addition to the above main export markets, the export value of pangasius to other potential markets such as Brazil, Thailand, UAE, and the UK also grew well over the same period last year.
